Communication lies at the heart of everything we do, and here at Meraki Collective, our mission is clear: we're committed to ensuring that nonspeaking/minimally speaking and unreliably speaking individuals have every opportunity to connect and express themselves. Through our services focusing on spelling as communication, regulation support, and motor skill development, we strive to foster meaningful connections and empower individuals to navigate the world around them.
At Meraki Collective, we're not just advocates; we're allies on your journey toward autonomy and self-expression. We champion self-advocacy efforts, promote accessibility, and envision a world where every individual has the tools and support they need to thrive.
Julianne came to Meraki as the parent of a nonspeaking autistic teen who found her voice through spelling in late 2022. Invited to consult with Forging Friendships Advocates on their personal essay anthology Bright Lights in the Darkness, from there Julianne designed Meraki’s Writer’s Toolbox lecture series based on graduate level writing courses, then immersed in i-asc’s s2c Practitioner Training to better support individuals who spell or type to communicate. A lifelong learner, ally and advocate, she’s committed to studying multiple modalities and emerging science. From first words on a letterboard to larger projects, Julianne is thrilled to serve the communicators, CRP’s and families here at Meraki -- and the larger community through lesson writing, virtual classes, editing, and Meraki’s expanding resource library.
